The community is located in South Delhi near the Arjan Garh Metro Station. There are 1,200 households in the area. Half of the community is an illegal settlement. The residents mostly work as drivers, domestic help, in BPOs and in the mall located close to the community.
Most houses are pukka and have attached toilets. The government provides clean water to the locality. However, the supply is infrequent. Garbage disposal in the area is also looked after by the government.
Magic Bus started its programme in May 2014. Currently, there are around 36 children of which only 12 are girls. The backward outlook on gender in the community is responsible for the low participation rate of girls. Magic Bus is hoping to change mindsets and increase the number of girls attending not only session, but also school.
The Training and Monitoring Officer responsible for this community is Rituraj Sood. He is assisted by Youth Mentor Rahul Kaushik.
Magic Bus sessions at G Block Extn, Aya Nagar Extn, take place on Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 10 am and from 5 pm to 7 pm. The session plan is divided into three parts:
