Case study: “I go to school regularly and take my younger sister with me; the teacher has accommodated both of us”, says Gayatri, a chirpy 8-year-old girl from Gannapuram Village, Kulkacherla Mandal of Rangareddy district in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. She dropped out of school to take care of her younger sister. Both her parents are daily wage laborers and they leave house early morning to work. Gayatri started attending the session when MB started S4D programme in the village. During the compilation of children’s data the Community Sports Coach (CSC) found out that Gayatri has stopped going to school for 4/5 weeks. The CSC took the initiative to convince her parents and met the school teacher with a request to re-admit Gayatri. She was eventually readmitted and continues her schooling.
