Ammavarishala Veedhi in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh is home to 823 persons.
Inhabitants primarily belong to a single caste group, the Vysya, who are described as a ‘trading caste’ in Andhra Pradesh. Telugu is the main spoken language. 96 percent of the households are Below Poverty Line (BPL) card holders.
Agriculture is the main source of livelihood in this community. There are a significant number of people involved in petty businesses like fruit vending as well.
This community is well-connected to a primary health centre and hospital. There are a school and college located in the vicinity.
Magic Bus has been working in this area since 2011. One of the biggest challenges we face is the rampant caste discrimination with upper caste families refusing to send their children to our sessions.
