Most of the residents speak Telugu and belong to a Schedule Caste, Madiga. 176 out of 184 households have a Below Poverty Line card.
Construction labour is the primary source of income for people living here. The nearest hospital and college is approximately 1.5km from Bhavani Street. The nearest government school is 1km away. There is no Primary Health Centre in the vicinity.
Magic Bus has been working in Bhavani street since 2011. One of the challenges is the reluctance of parents to sending girls for education. The other was the complete lack of awareness in the community about cleanliness and hygiene. Our efforts have been directed towards helping parents understand the importance of giving equal opportunities for both boys and girls. Through rallies and community meetings we have tried to improve the awareness among the different community members on the importance of cleanliness.
At present, there are 85 children involved in our programme, out of these 43 are girls and 42 are boys.
