Nirankari Colony is a 15 year old community comprising of 500 households and a population of around 2000. Most of the residents are migrants from surrounding northern states. Their dream of earning a substantial living could not see the light of the day due to lack of employment opportunities. Therefore most of them work as house help in the neighbourhood residential areas.
Presence of a primary and a higher secondary school in the community takes care of the educational needs of the children, however there is no such provision for the youth. Dampened spirits has resulted in them getting addicted to drugs and other substances which provides them temporary solace from the harsh reality. Magic Bus through its Sport for Development sessions has been regularly sensitizing the children of this community on the ill effects of drug abuse with the objective of driving home the message to their siblings. Our parents meeting and session in the community also reinforces the same message.
