With a total population of 750 persons, Palasagaram is a small slum cluster in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Telugu is the main language here. Inhabitants belong to the Chakali caste – a subset of the Rajakas who are washermen by their caste profession. More than 90 percent of the households lie below the poverty line.
Daily wage labour is the only source of livelihood for people settled here.
A primary health centre and a hospital are located a kilometre away from this community. A school and a college are at a similar distance. Lack of awareness on nutrition, health, and hygiene was identified as a challenge when Magic Bus began working in this area in 2011.
At present, we have 170 children on our programme here.

Sessions are held four times every week: on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 3.30 and 5.00pm and on Saturdays between 5.00 to 6.30pm.
