Yesunathapuram is home to a population of 669 persons. The majority of residents belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) group, Mala. They speak Telugu and practise Christianity. 91 percent of the 162 households in this area fall below the poverty line.
Most of the people living here earn a living by knitting baskets. Girls are usually involved in knitting baskets early on and are therefore, routinely discouraged to go to school. Magic Bus has been working in this community since 2014 to change such impediments to girls’ education.
At present, the programme engages 25 children through its sessions.
