Magic Bus offers an internship programme to current and prospective students to solve some of the key organisational and social challenges. The programme aims at creating a future talent pool for the development sector. The present skills demand and supply environment requires focus on the strategic skills and livelihoods. With this in mind, the internship programme provides interns access to the workplace skills training and relevant work experience to improve employment opportunities. It not only helps interns in gaining professional know-how but also benefits the organisation on fresh perspectives on varied professional issues and discovering future leaders.

Who is an intern at Magic Bus?
  • Currently enrolled in a university or is applying to one
  • Available for 3 to 6 months to work on projects
  • Available for work for 40 hours a week for defined responsibilities and deliverables relating to his / her area of study and department
  • Willing to work with a manager in the organisation
  • Willing to manage accommodation, travel and all expenses arising out of the internship programme

Strategic Project 1:

Designing and conducting a survey to identify the effectiveness of our Livelihood programs and ways to improve mobilisation and employer engagement

  • Duration: 3 months
Strategic Project 2:

Competence mapping exercise for all levels and functions

  • Department: Human Resources
  • Location: Mumbai
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months
Strategic Project 3:

Lead generation for CSR and individual fundraising through social media

  • Department: Communications
  • Location: Mumbai
  • Duration: 3 months
Strategic Project 4:

Data visualisation models for performance reporting to funders and program management

  • Department: Communications, Technology, Sustainability
  • Location: Work from home or Mumbai
  • Duration: 3 months
Operational Project 1:

Testing new face-to-face fundraising strategies and raising funds from individual donors

  • Department: Fundraising
  • Location: Mumbai and Pune
  • Duration: 1 to 3 months
Operational Project 2:

Creating audio-visual training content to be deployed on Magic Bus Academy

  • Department: Training
  • Location: Work from home or Mumbai
  • Duration: 3 to 6 months
What is the internship lifecycle at Magic Bus?
  • You fill in the application form and share necessary documents mentioned in the form. Remember to mention the project(s) that you want in the order of preference. If you have a project not in our list, please feel free to share a brief description.
  • The programme starts with an induction into Magic Bus. By the end of Week 2, interns and their managers are expected to set a goal to be achieved by the end of internship. Interns are encouraged to include personal learning goals along with organisational deliverables relevant for their projects. Please share the Internship Evaluation Form from your institute (if applicable) with your manager.
  • Depending on projects and managers, there will be regular interim reviews. Interns may work individually or in teams.
  • Depending on projects, there will be either a common project presentation or a report/deliverable submission by interns.
  • By the end of the internship project, the Human resources team will conduct exit interview. We welcome feedback about our internship process.
  • Interns are expected to collect their internship certificate/letter along with internship evaluation form (if any) on the last day of work.
  • We hope our interns keep in touch with Magic Bus through social media so that they are able to see the outcome of their work done.
