Frequently Asked Questions

Magic Bus works with adolescents for their holistic development, to help them thrive in their journey to adulthood. Our activity-based curriculum aims to impart life skills in a fun and relatable manner that makes it easy for adolescents to absorb. We also provide adolescents with support to enhance their basic literacy and numeracy levels and ensure they do not fall behind in their learning.

Our interventions also work to build a support system for adolescents by engaging with their entire surrounding ecosystem and raising community awareness about the importance of education. Collectively, these interventions help adolescents overcome hurdles and equip them to complete secondary education.

Magic Bus works with young people living in poverty, taking them from a childhood full of challenges to a life with meaningful livelihoods. We work with young people's ecosystems (parents, peers, community, and local institutions) to create a network of support for them.

Our Adolescent Programme includes the teaching of life skills like collaboration, creativity, decision-making, communication, assertiveness, negotiation problem-solving, self-management, empathy, and adaptability. These skills enable adolescents to become resilient and show higher self-efficacy in the face of destabilizers like child labour. This is how we ensure adolescents complete their education and are equipped to build a brighter future for themselves.

Today, Magic Bus is one of the leading NGOs in India's education and skilling sector, with a presence in 72 districts across 24 states and union territories.

In the adolescent programme, we have witnessed a substantial improvement in various aspects. School regularity has increased by 21% (from 67% during the baseline to 88% at the endline). Furthermore, 43% more adolescents reported good classroom participation compared to the baseline. Impressively, 31.3% more adolescents at the endline expressed high confidence in passing the 10th grade on their first attempt compared to the baseline. 99% of adolescents under Magic Bus programmes at the time of endline expressed high 'Academic Behaviour Confidence'. Besides, the programme has made them aware about the RTE Act, which has increased by 43% among adolescents from baseline to endline.

Magic Bus' Life Skills education programme has played a vital role in fostering gender equality, particularly among girls, with a significant 26% improvement in egalitarian gender attitudes among participants. Additionally, 90% of adolescent programme participants have acknowledged the value of Life Skills, including problem-solving, communication, and confidence

At Magic Bus, we use specific indicators and success metrics to assess the impact of our two programmes. We utilise standardised tools for Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN), Life Skills Education (LSE) to assess outcome indicators. Our approach involves collaborating with external evaluation agencies to conduct various assessments, including before-and-after, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental designs. Our evaluation methods cover both quantitative and qualitative aspects, including annual and quarterly learning assessments, programme reviews, and innovative tracking tools. This ongoing evaluation allows us to measure the positive changes and well-being of adolescents in our programmes annually.

Your contribution will fund holistic development programs for underprivileged adolescents, including life skills training, literacy and numeracy enhancement, and community learning centers. This support ensures they stay in school, improve academically, and gain the skills needed to thrive as adults.
