The World's Biggest Guestlist Quarterly Impact Report

The funds allocated would reach out to 22,700 children across four of India’s poorest regions and enable access to formal education as a direct result of the World’s Biggest Guestlist with DJ Hardwell. The event was conceptualized and executed by Shailendra Singh and www.guestlistevents.in

The World’s Biggest Guestlist with DJ Hardwell garnered financial support from Corporate Partners Hero and Bharti Airtel. Using the power of formal education, the Magic Bus programme has so far recruited 13,580 children and will further reach out to a total of 9120 children by the end of the year. In total, the objective is to impact the lives of 22,700 children and move them out of poverty with an sports activity based curriculum, with the guiding principle being ‘a journey from childhood to a dignified livelihood’.

Some of the projects expected outcomes

  • All children will complete school all the way up to Grade 12, unlike general Indian school-goers (42% of children in India drop out by age 14).
  • All girls on the programme will be nearly 100% sure of avoiding child marriage. This is significant since as many as 30.2% of Indians are married off as children.
  • All youth on the programme will get stable, dignified jobs.
  • Women and girls on the programme will be more likely to finish school and opt for higher education or jobs.
  • This means that they will be more likely than their non-Magic Bus counterparts to remain economically self-reliant throughout their lives.

In the quarter under review, the programme was initiated across five locations or 181 communities.

Highlights of work done in the first quarter

  • As many as 13,580 children were enrolled on the programme with 55% of them being girls.
  • The significance of education was communicated to target group using sports activity based sessions.
  • 46 sessions were conducted for parents in the communities, to create the much-needed awareness around the significance of education.
  • 1126 sessions were conducted in the last quarter.
  • 233 Community Youth Leaders benefitted from refresher trainings that were organized to develop leadership skills and build confidence among the team members. Furthermore, the sessions motivated youths on the importance of higher education and scope for higher livelihood opportunities.
